SAINT-AGNAN, which rises to 600 metres, is located in the heart of the Morvan Regional Nature Park, the last village in the Nièvre between the Yonne and Côte-d'Or departments, and has managed to retain its Morvan village character despite being administratively attached to the Bourgogne Franche Comté region. Equidistant from Paris and Lyon, it is best known today for its 142-hectare lake, created in 1968 to supply drinking water to the communes of the Avallonais region. For this reason, boats powered by internal combustion engines are not permitted. The Commune of Saint-Agnan has the most beautiful lake in the Morvan, a haven of peace and nature whose inhabitants would like to preserve its wild atmosphere.
In the heart of the village, the gîte is ideally situated for hiking, swimming in the lake and 8 km from La Pierre qui Vire (a community of Benedictine monks). 40 km from Vézelay: visit to the basilica and the town, gourmet restaurant.
