With a surface area of 138 ha, the Lac du Crescent owes its name to its "crescent" shape. It is a hydroelectric dam built in 1930 and financed by German war damages. The dam is 330 m long and 37 m high, and the lake has a capacity of 14 million m3.
The Crescent reservoir is fed by the Morvan's most famous trout rivers: the Cure and the Chalaux. The lake is also home to pike-perch and perch.
Every year at the end of July, during the lake festival, a country-style meal is followed by a fireworks display on the banks of the lake (in the commune of Marigny l'Eglise).
Please note that there is no supervised beach at this lake.
