Installed in front of the former courthouse, now the town hall, the mobile fountain statue is the joint work of Jean Tinguely and Nikki de Saint-Phalle. Given to Château-Chinon by François Mitterrand, it is remarkable firstly because there are only five of them in the world, two of which are in France, and secondly because it pleases with its movement and its colours, which are very characteristic of Nikki: bright, vivid, almost dazzling. It's cheerful, surprising, seductive. It's a wink to you from the city.
