Your tour starts at the foot of the church of St Amélie, offered to the inhabitants by the mayor of the time, Marie-Augustin-Xavier Feuillet, a former naval officer and privateer under Napoleon. The construction lasted 7 years (1844-1851).
Dun-les-Places, a martyred village during the Second World War, experienced three days of terror from 26 to 28 June 1944. A monument is dedicated to the 27 victims of those dark days and the Dun memorial recounts those tragic events. You then walk to the Saulieu Bridge, whose footbridge allows you to cross the river. This path is actually the old Roman road and then the royal road from Saulieu to Corbigny. You will then follow the Cure for almost 3km. This river, which is a sensation for white water sports, also played a major role in transporting firewood to Paris for three centuries, from the middle of the 16th century until the middle of the 19th century. On your left, the river, on your right, the state forest of Breuil-Chenue which was home to an important granite quarry whose stones were used for the construction of the church of Dun-les-Places or for the dam of the Settons lake. You will leave the Cure towards the Montal rock, a climbing site well known to the initiated, before returning to your starting point.
