Would you like to go cycling in the Morvan but don't have your own bike or don't want to take it with you on your holiday? No problem. You can hire a bike at a number of locations.
Local loops
We invite you to explore our Morvan roads on nine signposted loops that will take you through unsuspected landscapes. They range in distance from 15.5 km to 58 km. The positive altitude difference varies between 364 m and 1199 m.
An additional, unmarked circuit takes you around the Lac de Pannecière via the ridges, covering a distance of 48km and a climb of 1,045m.
Long tours
Altitude or lakes?
The 99-kilometre Morvan des Sommets trail takes you on a conquest of its three highest peaks: Mont Beuvray (821m), Mont Préneley (856m) and Haut Folin (901m). The loop, which starts in Château-Chinon and runs down to Larochemillay via Roussillon-en-Morvan, will take you up to 2957m of ascent.
Longer but with less altitude, the 154km Grands Lacs du Morvan circuit links the six lakes. This route, with a positive altitude difference of 3520 m, will also take you to discover many of the Morvan's typical villages.
If you can't decide, you can do a bit of both on the Grands Tours du Morvan.
The Tour du Morvan par l'intérieur is a fairly challenging 370km tour, offering a number of viewpoints as it passes over the "Grands Cols du Morvan". The Tour du Morvan par l'extérieur is a more touristic tour of 316 km, linked to regional cycle routes such as the "Tour de Bourgogne à vélo" and the "voies vertes".
These routes are not signposted. Other nearby routes are also available, particularly in the Avallonais, Autunois and Rives du Morvan areas.
