The Yonne

The Yonne downstream from the Pannecière dam is one of the department's showpieces. This well-maintained and signposted river offers all anglers the opportunity to practise their favourite technique under good conditions. The Yonne is a medium-sized river, between 15 and 20 metres wide, flowing through the granite of the Morvan massif, offering fast and coloured water. Its flow is determined by the action of the lake upstream, which usually releases more water from July to October than the rest of the year.

OT MSGL

The entire course between Chassy and Marigny-sur-Yonne is suitable for fly fishing. 9-foot rods are more than adequate for fishing in these situations. The fish are especially fond of small, dark flies (diptera type) and nymphs with gold beads on 14 to 16 hooks with curved shanks. Small parachute rigs should also be in the box....

OT MSGL

The spots are more pronounced than on the larger rivers. So, depending on the season, trolling fishermen can fish quite short with moths, worms or grasshoppers. Because of the cold water discharged by the dam in spring, there are few minnows in the Yonne. The trout, therefore, welcome a bigger bite than the usual invertebrates that make up their diet. Don't forget your mounts... And your minnows.
