Understanding the Morvan

La Maison des Hommes et des Paysages

This is the perfect starting point to understand the Morvan. The trail 'Morvan, a story of exchange and migration' lets you travel through the region's landscapes and in the footsteps of those who shaped it. You will discover the story of the 'people of the Morvan' to end with some poetic detours in a digital panorama where contemporary and historical photos merge. On the 2nd floor is the Musée de la Résistance en Morvan.

The resistance

Musée de la Résistance en Morvan

Located in the Maison du Parc naturel régional du Morvan in St-Brisson, this museum allows you to understand the role and importance of the resistance and especially the maquis in this region and during World War II. All this thanks to the large collection of archives, objects, photos, weapons, etc. displayed in three rooms with the themes of occupation, resistance, liberation and remembrance.

The barefoot trail

Want an original experience? Then try out the barefoot trail near the road leading to the Taureau pond walking trail. Walk barefoot to experience the different sensations caused by the various materials that make up the 200-metre trail. The Taureau pond footpath is part of the network of regional nature reserves and will be redesigned this year. So you can discover its inhabitants (fauna and flora) and history in a playful way.

Plants in the spotlight

The herb garden contains about 100 plants found in the Morvan that are used in cooking or for medical purposes. The arboretum contains 17 different
Morvan tree species. The orchard in the greenhouse is used for various training courses and workshops (pruning, grafting, insect and disease control).
