Fishing on Lac des Settons is banned until spring 2025.
Following the emptying of Lac des Settons in 2023, the fishing rules have changed.
Carnivorous fish
A lake that combines tourism and fishing, located a few kilometres from Montsauche Les Settons, Lac des Settons is a Mecca for fishing and water sports of all kinds.
Its slopes are gentle, with some fine reed beds providing hiding places and spawning grounds for the many fish that inhabit its waters. There is a good population of carnivorous fish. Three species are mainly available in the lake: pike, pike-perch, perch and a few trout.
Fishing is done from the shore using float, pater noster or sinker rigs, but some anglers prefer to fish the whole lake from a boat in water depths of between 6m and 16m using soft or rigid lures, vertical or back casting, casting with swimming fish or spoons No. 1 to 5, depending on the size of the fish they are looking for, as well as using livebaits, drawbaits, drop shots and deadbaits.
Slip ways
Fishing boats may be launched all around the lake, in particular at Chevigny, Les Genièvres, Le Barrage on the left bank and at the port de la baye de la Faye on the right bank.
Internal combustion engine over 6hp authorised
Fishing in the high-speed zone prohibited
Carp
Before it was drained in 2022, Lac des Settons had 10 tonnes of common and mirror carp ranging from 2 to 30 kg per unit, with an average of 11 kg. We'll have to wait 3 years before we can get back to an interesting fish stock.
- Only boilies and baits of vegetable origin are authorised during night fishing.
- No carp caught by amateur anglers may be kept in captivity or transported from half an hour after sunset until half an hour before sunrise.
- The existence of an overnight course does not in any way authorise camping.
- The use of radio-controlled boats or devices to lay down lines is prohibited.
- Night fishing authorised on the right bank from 1 April to 30 June and from 1 September to 31 October.
