Château de Bazoches

To visit this castle is to follow in the footsteps of Vauban the strategist. Having first lived in Epiry, in the tower that now bears his name, Vauban moved to Bazoches and acquired this castle perched halfway up the hill, offering an uninterrupted view of the Morvan. Dating back to the 12th century, the Marshal added a wing to protect the courtyard, overhanging it with four cannons, two of which are now preserved at the Burgundy château of Marcilly. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1994, visits have been open to the public since 1997. The French garden, sculptures and rooms have been faithfully preserved.
