A few steps from your starting point, you'll see the Fontaine de la Bonne Dame. Legend has it that this spring originally flowed at the head of the church, where the Assumption procession was held. One year, the water suddenly stopped flowing. An underground rumbling sound was heard, and the faithful followed this mysterious noise, which led them here. The spring is said to have left its place of origin because a butcher washed his tools in it... As you continue on your way, you will discover vast panoramic views of the Morvan peaks. Onlay is just a few kilometres from the three highest peaks, Haut Folin (901m), Mont Preneley (855m) and Mt Beuvray (821m). Your route takes you around the hamlet of Niault, where there was once a castle and, in the early 20th century, a coal factory employing around twenty people with metal ovens, cylindrical cauldrons and tar collectors. For the second part of your tour, you'll take 5 of the 220 km of the GR de Pays that circles the Morvan. You will finish your walk under the protective gaze of the statue of the Virgin Mary and Child.
