Boucle de Bazoches

Approximately 2 km after you set off, you will take the Via Lemovicensis, better known as the "Vézelay Way", which guides pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. On this mythical route, you'll pass the Chapelle St Roch, which served as a stop-off point for pilgrims and was the subject of therapeutic rites against human and animal diseases. Back in the village, the church of St Hilaire contains a number of treasures: a Baroque-style high altar (listed as an historic monument) imported from Italy and donated by Marshal Vauban, beautiful 19th-century stained-glass windows and the Vauban family vault. A commemorative bust of the Lord of Bazoches sits opposite the church. Continuing on your way, you will pass the Château de Bazoches, home of the famous military engineer. Further on, on the heights, admire the panorama of Mt Lancioux and Mt Sabot, dominated by a small chapel. On the way back to your starting point, you will come across the modest Fontaine d'Amour (Fountain of Love), whose rite for lovers is unknown to us but whose name leaves room for the imagination...
