Downstream from their respective dam lakes (Lac des Settons and Lac de Chaumeçon), the Cure and the Chalaux take on a very interesting configuration for fly fishing. About fifteen metres wide, they cross the superb forested valleys of the Morvan. The Chalaux is a fairly steep river with very uneven sections on this 7 km stretch.
As for the Cure, the course extends into the Yonne department (about 40km) and offers a multitude of stations ranging from very steep sectors to large deep calms, passing through superb areas of riffles. The best courses are located downstream from Montsauche, Dun-les-Places (at the confluence with the Vignan, a forest path runs along the Cure for several kilometres) and downstream from Vieux-Dun to the Iles Ménéfriers.
- Fishing with natural bait
The toc can be practised all year round and is often the most effective fishing method. At the opening, the minnow selected the largest trout and allows fishing with fairly strong water.
- Lure fishing
A must in summer! The ultra-light lure allows you to cover a maximum number of spots in the evening and morning. It remains a technique to be favoured on the upstream of the two lakes where the Cure and Chalaux are still only pretty little streams.
- The best periods and the particularities of the site
June is the best time for trout. In summer, overcast and cloudy weather is more favourable to trout activity, as opposed to sunny days.
Some weekends are devoted to water activities (rafting, hydrospeed, kayaking) accompanied by dam releases on both the Chalaux and the Cure. Schedule available on request from the Morvan Sommets et Grands Lacs Tourist Office)
