Bibracte

2,000 years of history

We end our stay with a trip back in time.

2,000 years ago, this Gallic town, capital of the Eduen people, dominated the Morvan from the heights of Mont Beuvray. This oppidum, visited by Vercingetorix and Caesar alike, was home to up to 10,000 inhabitants at its peak. Today, Bibracte is one of the world's largest late-Gallic archaeological sites. Every summer, archaeologists from all over Europe excavate this incredible site.

Where to stay?

The Morvan Sommets et Grands Lacs region offers a wide choice of accommodation: campsites, overnight stays in a perched hut or tepee, hotels, gîtes and bed & breakfasts.
